My wife Perri plays goalie in a recreational soccer league. During a thrilling one on one battle between her and an opponent, the soccer ball won, resulting in what you see below. Somehow, the impact of the soccer ball on her hand as she was blocking the shot on goal (she did manage to keep it out of the goal) dislocated the base of her thumb into the palm of her hand. This shot was taken in the waiting room of the ER, while trying to keep her mind occupied. The ER staff pulled the thumb back in place, with four people holding various parts of her arm, and a good deal of yanking. They temporarily splinted it, and on Tuesday, they put her in a pretty purple cast which she will be wearing for at least a month. The silver bullets are looking for a new goalie. Any takers?
